From February 10th iwell drives on 100% electricity generated by the sun. They do this with the EV sharing initiative from We Drive Solar. Alderman of Utrecht, Lot van Hooijdonk was present to the festive delivery of the car to iwell’s Harm and Jan Willem.
Iwell is an innovative startup who enable households to store their energy produced by their solar panels in a home battery. Batteries are important for increasing sustainability as they allow people to use their electricity produced by their solar panels also when there is no sun. We Drive Solar is a startup that not only uses their cars for car sharing, but also to stabilize the grid.
Right now iwell and We Drive Solar are exploring possibilities for future cooperation. iwell is developing battery systems to store sustainably produced electricity. We Drive Solar is doing the same thing, but is investing in ‘battery systems on wheels’. Complementing products that can be used together.
Quite possibly this day will turn out to be a symbolic day where we can later say: this is where it started! In any case, today iwell took an important next step in realizing her mission: making homes more sustainable, house by house.
